Stay PresentLife seems to be constantly busy, but when December hits it seem to get even crazier. Whether it is because of holidays, social gatherings, or the finishing of things you wanted done in the current year, there tends to be a lot on the “needs-to-get-done” list.

As we rush through one thing to get to the next, to get to the next we can lose sight of something important, staying present. If we keep looking at a future task or rushing through the current activity we often fail to experience what is happening in the here and now.

We may miss the opportunity of enjoying the time in preparing a dish to bring to a party, or noticing how clear the sky is with the stars shining bright in the cool air (ok, in my area cold air), or how a stranger holds the door open and smiles at us when we enter a store. Staying focused on what’s ahead instead of what in front of us can result in missing opportunities to enjoy the present moment.

So when you find yourself rushing take a moment to slow down, take a breath, and be present. See what you can acknowledge in the here and now. You may find that although there is still a lot to get done, you float more easily and pleasantly through crossing things off the list.

What are some of your tricks to staying present when things get busy? Share will me below.
